A soldier in a cap stands with a rifle, and a large canvas tent rises behind him as a triangular silhouette. A knapsack and a folding camp stool sit among the kit around the camp. The palette is cream and dark brown, with the sepia tone dominating the frame, and the image holds a plain documentary composition.

Meaning & Symbolism

The photograph records a state volunteer unit in the Eastern Theater during 1861 and 1862, the first months of the war. Harpers Ferry was a strategic town on the Potomac, and the camp shows the logistics of a regiment living in the field. The printed label refers to the unit and its place in the regimental record, which makes the image a document of the militia's presence in that region.

On the Kiss-Cut Sticker

A kiss-cut sticker can follow any outline, so the cut can run around the photograph's border or close in on the soldier and the tent. The warm sepia tones suit a smooth, flat surface such as a journal cover or a laptop lid, where the knapsack and the camp stool read clearly against the backing.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/22d-new-york-state-militia-near-harpers-ferry-va-1861-ie1862-0052-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-30979093735166064918-alt-3.webp?v=1787748528
https://thestickerspace.com/products/22d-new-york-state-militia-near-harpers-ferry-va-1861-ie1862-0052-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
