The two soldiers stand upright, their knapsacks and rifles clearly visible, and the dirt road runs through the lower part of the scene. The image sits within a grey-blue border, which reads as a photographic print mount, and the small catalogue marking B785 appears as visible text.

Meaning & Symbolism

The photograph records the 22nd New York State Militia in the vicinity of Harpers Ferry during the early years of the American Civil War, from 1861 to 1862. Harpers Ferry was a strategic crossing point, and the presence of the unit there marks the troop movements of that period. The soldiers' uniforms and kit show the everyday equipment of 1860s service, making the image a documentary record for historians and for those tracing the unit's history.

Kiss-Cut to the Figures

A kiss-cut sticker follows the outline of its artwork, so the figures and the road define the edge rather than a square border. On a laptop, a journal or a window, the cut silhouette lets the two soldiers stand alone on the surface, with the sepia detail of the scene kept intact.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/22d-new-york-state-militia-near-harpers-ferry-va-1861-ie1862-0032-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-11848676431380236840-alt-3.webp?v=1787748449
https://thestickerspace.com/products/22d-new-york-state-militia-near-harpers-ferry-va-1861-ie1862-0032-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
